During the doctorate, and now after that, one of the
recurring themes of conversation with other colleagues and graduates, was about
what we should do to use spaces such as virtual social networks such as
Facebook and Twitter, others such as Google Plus and LinkedIn, to divulge the
scientific production that we generate.
This dossier, which I consider a deepening of the
entry "Managing online the disclosure and visibility of academic
production" that I wrote for my blog, intends to
address examples of how to do it, based on the practices of several
teacher-researchers in the field of social sciences, that well, depending on
each case, can be replicated in other areas of knowledge.
The basis of everything is the existence of a publication
that is to which the disclosure will be made. I refer to a paper or
scientific article, a communication in a congress, the chapter of a book or a
book itself, which of course must be available in a repository on the Web since
we need the URL or web address.
The ways of spreading in virtual social networks can vary a
bit since each one has its own particularities. For example, in Facebook,
Google Plus and LinkedIn there is virtually no limit to the characters in the
post, which does exist on Twitter (whose limit was 140 recently extended to
280). Also, on Twitter the textual element is the protagonist more than in
other digital social networks where it is the visual (images and photographs).
the peculiarity is highlighted that a news item
published in a communication medium served as the basis for making a chapter of
a book public by connecting both for its subject, which is a good strategy to
"dust off" content.
In the elements present in the post we see how the author
starts paraphrasing the news (which could complement by placing the URL of it),
declares the connection and cites the title of the chapter of the book and the
book in which it was published. In this case, the use of hashtags is also
highlighted not as a complement to the publication at the end, but as a natural
part of the words present in this (#Google #Facebook #Google News).
